Went early via the train to Pompeii. Was raining a bit but ok, not raining when we got there came out hot by lunch time, Is pouring with rain now as I type this really monsoon like!
lots of dogs about and not too many tourist because of the wet start. had to wait for a while for there to be enough punters for the tour, kicked off about an hour after we got there but only 10 euro each. that was well worht the wait as the guides know where to go in what is a big site.
lots of the roads and buldings are still in tact, except roofs but the stone work is pretty amazing really. unfortunately the time was too short for a worthwhile trip to Capri, but the weather may have been not so flash out there anyway.
Back to rome via Naples tomorrow then get car and go out in the crazy roman traffic to go to Umbria.
